Our School
Falconer School is a Special School for boys aged 11-16. We cater for boys who have a range of complex special needs including Autism, ADHD, ODD and other barriers to learning.
At Falconer, we aim to support our students to develop the personal and emotional resilience to navigate life successfully. We encourage them to develop emotional literacy and the strategies that enable them to regulate their emotions effectively. We want them to be socially capable and to make friendships. We help them build the knowledge and skills to be successful in their chosen pathway. We know that engaging in education in a wider sense can help develop motivation and curiosity about subject learning to help secure onward pathways that are meaningful. We know that learning happens everywhere and that moments away from the classroom can be key moments for learning.
A strong aspect of Falconer is our research driven approach to support self regulation, engagement and social skills. With strong relationships, through co-regulation and regulating scripts we can have an impact on how they manage their emotions and their behaviours. This allows them to engage fully in the learning process.
We involve our parents and carers in discussions about the students and their care at all levels. Parents are invited to support with developing programmes for our young people at all levels. Our staff are passionate about supporting our boys and we work tirelessly to make adjustments that support them in their learning and engagement.
We look forward to welcoming you to our learning community and working with you to ensure that your son develops and flourishes in to a well-rounded young man.
