Maths Curriculum Intent
The maths Curriculum at Falconer aims to remain as wide as possible for all learners and focussed on age appropriate content for all. Focussed on National Curriculum content it enables us to ensure that we are aspirational for students to achieve their potential in maths and go on to access the careers and pathways they choose for the future.
Students develop knowledge and skills within all areas of the curriculum including, shape and space, measurement, algebra, number and Data Handling. For those who are able the GCSE pathway at KS4 allows them to achieve appropriate qualifications towards their intended destination and others will continue a functional skills pathway at KS4 to the appropriate level based on starting points.
Current position
The Department has reviewed its curriculum and has newly launched the use of White Rose maths across all years. This enables staff to make appropriate adjustments as we identify gaps in learning and support learners to close the gaps in their knowledge. Staff are in the process of implementing this new curriculum for the academic year 2024/2025.
